It has been a great honor to meet Don and his friends and having had the possibility to spend some time together with them and also not to only visit the locations but also to listen to the stories of some of the people who had been extras in the movie.
The Great Escape
On August 7th, 2012 I got on my bike and drove down to the Füssen area to meet up with Don J. Whistance and his friends to visit some of the locations where "the Great Escape" had been shot in 1962.
Of course a lot has changed since then, but we were still able to identify the locations and I was able to take some pictures.
